The Hunchback of Notre Dame
According to Hugh Jones the
Marquis de Bouteville was a hunch back and was also know as the Tapster
of Notre Dame due to all the battle flags he brought back. Hence the
caricature of the "Hunch back of Notre dame".
Adam de Boteville born
about 1280 was detained for high treason. He was possibly dealt with at
York for participating in the battle of Boroughbridge hence his
brothers seemed to become John o' th'inn and Walter too i.e the Bucks
Head Inn in Church Stretton where John practised Law.
Thomas Earl of Lancaster took on the King in this battle and was beheaded, his father Edmund the Grandson of Isabelle Taillefer was a hunchback. Curiouser and curiouser.
